Manus
12 x 15 x 3"
Mixed media assemblage
2007
A woman and her children stand beneath a spotlight, their figures softened by time, as if caught between memory and performance. The stage is framed by a patterned grid—ornamental, confining—hinting at repetition, tradition, or entrapment. Below them, a doorknob divides the inscription MANUS, a threshold both literal and symbolic. Is it an invitation to step through, or a barrier holding the past in place?
