Sara Paula Hoffman is a visual artist. For seventeen years she was Professor of Art at the Savannah College of Art and Design; her work explores narrative, memory, and psychological interiority through oil and mixed media painting.

For over two decades, she has engaged with the dramatic structures and emotional complexity of Henrik Ibsen’s plays, exhibiting nationally and internationally, including solo exhibitions at the International Ibsen Conferences in Oslo, Shanghai and Tromsø, and a lecture at the 16th conference, in Zürich, in 2026. Some twenty of her works are in private and institutional collections, among them the SCAD Permanent Collection and the Centre for Ibsen Studies, Oslo.

Her intimate, layered compositions draw on personal archives and cultural references to examine the tension between visibility and concealment. She maintains an active studio practice in St. Louis, Missouri.
